I’m aware that there are myriad other perfectly legitimate reasons why a university would suspend a member of staff on full pay for 241 days and forbid them to contact students or enter the campus (even to present at a conference via skype). As soon as there is an announcement from Warwick I will be happy to update this post and publicise the fact. In the meantime I can only go with what students, academic staff, trade unions and the press are saying.

The passage in the post above was written very carefully to avoid making assertions that are not backed up by published matter. And I only chose to talk about Docherty because of the location of the conference – there are many other similarly worrying examples I could have used from the UK and worldwide.
