{part1 – 45mins}
{part2 -45mins}
I’ve finally had chance to upload the recording of the conversation I had with Mariana Funes on #ds106radio a couple of weeks back.
We ranged from storytelling, via “Twitter Verses Zombies“, to some fairly high-flown stuff on creativity, metaphor and intellectual property – she was a great interview and did her best to make me sound like I knew what I was talking about. Especially noteworthy was the fact it was her first time on DS106radio, not the last I’m sure.
I think it can be easy for the observer to miss the level and quality of intellectual engagement that is found around ds106 – it can look like a lot of slogans and animated GIFs to the uninitiated. But really, it grapples with the big stuff … the place of art and creativity in general education, the active reinterpretation of the emerging norms of the internet, the need for regular (daily?) challenges to our preconceptions of what we can do.
I don’t think we’ve ever shied away from talking about stuff like this, maybe it gets heard less. I’m really looking forward to a proper chat with Jim Groom about these things at OpenEd13.
You can read Marinara’s blog at DoubleMirror, and see her ds106 work as “The DS106 shrink“. A very interesting woman indeed, and a welcome recruit to the small but growing arming of British ds106 adherents.
